Hi kids, I’m back again with my latest blog-The Danger of giving up your Dream. No matter who you are, where you come from, or what your background is, you have a dream or have had one at one time. And I don’t mean that thing that you just happened upon or some get rich scheme, I mean your real dream. The one that you are so passionate about that you would give your right arm for. Over the years I have watched as many friends and acquaintences have either deferred their dreams or given up on them completely. And of course there are a number of reasons why people say they give. Oh I’m too old, too fat, I got kids now, my job, don’t have enough time/money-you name it. Well Im going to out them by saying that 90 % of their excuse is a load of crap. They stop mainly because of fear, lack of support or because they are accommodating others. Yes I said it. If you don’t like where I’m going with this, I advise you to stop reading NOW! In many cases when people don’t see dreams come into fruition in a certain time frame fear comes in to play. Then they want to use everything from their kids to their arthritis as a poor ass excuse. Also instead of listening to their heart they start listening the wrong people and their personal opinions. Well here is a tip for all of you talented people who listen to the wrong people. DAMN THEIR OPINION! In most cases they are jealous of you and they really don’t want you to succeed. This would include (you ready)-FAMILY AND FRIENDS. Hard pill to swallow-(KEEP READING). Bottom line is if you have a dream in many cases you can’t share it with too many people. You can only share it with those who are equipped to handle the level you are on and who have been put in place to help you excel. You have to trust what your gut is telling you and forge ahead no matter what happens or how hard it gets. You can’t let fear and naysayers cripple you. You have to move ahead with courage, defiance and with utter contempt for the odds. Damn the cards that are stacked against you. Those cards are stacked against you to make you stronger.



THE DANGER!!!
I want to use an example that hits close to home because I know quite a few people who have done this. In many cases I have witnessed guys who sang in R&B bands hit the age 40, not make it in music and RUN TO CHURCH! Now please don’t misinterpret what I am saying. I love church. So this is not a slam against church and anyone’s spiritual life. I will explain. EXAMPLE: Soul singer turns 40-career not going the way he thought-next thing you know he’s a preacher. He uses the excuse that I’ve gotten too old and maybe God didn’t want that for me, or even still he claims that God called him to the ministry! Now while I do believe there are musicians/dreamers who are genuinely called to be ministers, pastors and evangelist. I bet the percentage of them who are not really called out ranks those who are. And you know what happens when it is not genuine. They wind up making grave mistakes and reverting back to who they really are. Even if the public doesn’t know. Then everyone is wondering why this person screwed up. Here is why! They make a decision based on fear and not what is truly in their heart and not what God is really telling them. They force a situation and get in over their heads and now they find themselves drowning. You can’t lie your way into a situation that is not and never was intended for you to be in. And there lies the danger of going against destiny. Same thing goes for the man or woman who gets married, has kids, gets a decent paying job and gives up. To give up is a GRAVE mistake! First off, your kids will have more respect for you if continue to dream and if you teach them how to dream than if you gave up. How can you tell your kids to dream and motivate them if you are a QUITTER. If you’re going to get married make sure you marry someone who understands who and what you are. You don’t need someone who is Anti-you, Anti-support, and Anti-your dream. They have to support you. If they don’t support you, either you will live a miserable lie of a life or the relationship will end in disaster. (And that rule goes for the married and unmarried). You need someone in your life who supports you. Stop letting significant others HATE ON YOUR DREAM! I DON’T HAVE TIME-If you don’t have enough time-MAKE TIME! This means even if you have to get up early or go to bed late to make it happen-DO IT! I get up at 4am daily-just to make it happen! TOO OLD-Bullshit! I’m a Grandfather of one and I play in a Rock Band-I’m in the best mental, physical and spiritual shape of my life and I’m not stopping! My mother is 72 and still dreams BIG! So if WE’RE not TOO OLD. YOU’RE not TOO OLD! If your friends and or family don’t support your dream tell them to shut the hell up. And if you have to put some space between you and them-DO IT. Send a stern message that you are who you are and they can like it or be scarce. BE YOUR OWN CHEERLEADER IF YOU HAVE TO BE!


You see family its dangerous as hell to stop dreaming. You will find yourself not being very nice. You will find yourself resenting those who you love. You find yourself not liking the person in the mirror. You will sit and watch in jealousy and malice at those who are taking the world by storm. Anger will be your twin! And you will have health problems. And all of those things are DANGEROUS! YOU SEE, it doesn’t have to be some super wild crazy dream. It could be something simple or something grand. Makes no difference how big or small it is. ROCK STAR or CADDY-just DREAM! The main thing is, if it’s important to you, if it warms your heart, if it gives you a since of purpose, if accomplishing it makes you feel like the greatest success story in the world, then it’s worth its weight in gold. You can’t afford to defer your dream another day. It (your dream) may or may not make you a millionaire, but you will forever be RICH. Success is not measured in the amount of money you attain, but by the happiness and fulfillment you gain by living in your destiny. Not pursuing and or living your dream will only put pressure on you and send you to an early grave. So then you get to Die twice. Because if you have stopped or you’re not dreaming-YOU ARE ALREADY DEAD! The place where you find the greatest number of unrealized dreams is the cemetery. So get up, start dreaming again and do something about it!


And for those of you who never stopped and continue to dream I applaud, respect and admire you. NEVER EVER STOP!!!!!!



I wrote this with YOU in mind. This is for all who dare to dream. I know how it is to get scared. I know how it is to lose your passion. In my past I have been in relationships where the support was crappy. I write this today for those who need a dose of truth. I’m doing it for YOU! I’ve been thru it and I made it over that hump. At this juncture in my life I am blessed with a beautiful family (spouse and kids/grand-boo boo), who love and support me. I am accepted 100 % for who and what I am. And I am forever thankful. As a musician and human being it is very important to me to give support to others and to be there for those I care about. I have always been that way. I have noticed however that there are many (so called friends or aquaintences) who dont feel that same way. I will use this example via my music, because it is something that is dear to me. It is amazing how people will spend anywhere from $60 to $1000 to go to a concert- to see an artist who they only know thru the MEDIA, but wont come out to support a friend who in most cases is asking them to pay nothing. NOTICE THE WORD FRIEND! But here is where it gets really interesting...Ask yourself a question....If your friend the musican and the same artist that you paid $60-$1000 to see were walking down the street together and they saw you were getting your ass kicked on the sidewalk.....WHO IS GOING TO STOP AND HELP YOU????? Starting to make sense yet. In other words support those who you know will support you! I take great pleasure in speaking my mind! I LOVE THE TRUTH! You can use this example in all aspects of life-THINK ABOUT IT-FRIENDS! Which Brings me to part 2!!!!! Are you READY because here is where it gets RAW!




Im going to be as blount as possible. If there is a person or persons, a situation or habit that is not helping to uplift you, helping you to grow or helping you to move forward.....GET RID OF IT! Rid your life of TOXIC CRAP. Here it is in a nutshell. When you truly look at it, what good is it to keep those people and or situation(s) around? You deserve so much more than that. Life is about growth and the last thing you need is an entity that holds you back. Go thru your facebook, myspace, twitter and your phone and take an assessment. If there are people who you have around who are not really true friends, people who are not helping you to grow, or people who you are not being a light to, CUT YOUR LOSES! ERASE ERASE ERASE. I started pink-slipping yesterday and it feels great. Life is too short to be playing fake. Be honest with yourself as hard as it may be. CLEAN YOUR LIFE OUT AND GROW! You have nothing to lose. If there is a situation or relationship that has become TOXIC! ZERO IT OUT! If there is a habit that holds you prisoner-ZERO IT OUT! Dont spend another day wasting time on people who dont truly care about you. Make this year your best year. It doesn't have to start on December 31st with some ill-fated resolution that will only last 30 days. The change starts now! Also-start being brutally honest with yourself and those around you! THE TRUTH WILL MAKE YOU FREE! Say what you have to say without regret. Tell people like it is. You have no time for negative things. Tell people to shape up or ship out if necessary. Dont let people use you as a dump. Your life is too valuable. Make a list of these people and ask yourself the following questions:


1. Is this person someone I CANT DEPEND ON?


2. Have I stopped growing?


3. Are they a constant source of negative action?


4. Are they always in need?


5. Would they back me up?


6. Am I always the GIVER?


7. Are they always the taker?


8. TOXIC - YES?????


9. Is this situation BAD FOR ME?



If you answered yes to any of these questions you are officially in a TOXIC RELATIONSHIP and you need to MOVE ON! You deserve people around you who love you, respect you, who want to see you grow, who contribute to that growth and who would hold your hand in a time of need. BIG NUMBERS IN THE FRIEND COLUMN ON FACEBOOK MEANS NOTHING!



Give yourself permission and start PINK SLIPPING TODAY! CLEAN OUT YOUR LIFE!!!!! I AM!

One thing that I've noticed and I have to address it briefly and that is, so many people have had dreams and hopes that have been dashed, forgotten or given up on. This has happened either because life has handed them hardships, they started thinking they were too old, not smart enough or not good enough, negative people have worn them down, the fear of the countries supposed economic downturn has created fear or just laziness has taken over. Well I'm hear to tell you that if you have stopped dreaming then you have shortened your life. You have cut yourself off at the kness. I have had numerous setbacks but I will never stop and neither should you. Live your Life and your Dreams!



I hope that in these blogs you will find something that will inspire you, move you, motivate you, stimulate thought and entertain you. Some will be serious, some will be funny and some will just be. I welcome and encourage your feedback and I look forward to you being a part of my blog life. And before I sign off I would just like to say to all who read this blog, look in the mirror and learn to love that person with all of your heart. Then take that same exact love and share it with others. Be thankful each day for what you have and start dreaming again. And once you have that dream or goal in sight-GO FOR IT! Let nothing and no one stop you! You deserve it, you are worth it and it is yours for the taking!
